Island of Saint Louis - Haven of Parisian Bourgeoisie. Haussmann-Opera district - the elegance of the 19C.: Garnier Opera, Haussmann architecture, the jewellers on the Place Vendome, the Hotel palaces Ritz, The Westin and Le Meurice. The Louvre - in older times luxurious residence of the French kings, today biggest museum in the world - with the still contoversial glass pyramid, the little Arc de Triomphe and the royal gardens : the Tuileries. Place de la Concorde with the more than 3.300 years old egyptian obelisk. The Champs Elysées with Napoleon's Arc de Triomphe. The still unmissable Eiffel tower. The Invalids dome with its gold leaf cupola - Napoleon's mausoleum. The Seine river and its bridges. Latin Quarter: The dignified Sorbonne University for liberal arts. Once the neighbourhood of the Jazz cellars, of philosophers and writers (Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Joyce, Wilde...) nowadays more a neighborhood of haute couture and art galeries. Montmartre - first a vineyard then playground of painters: Toulouse-Lautrec, Renoir, Picasso, Dali..., the Moulin Rouge and the painters village, just in back of the Sacré-Coeur church. (Daily)

But you have the time to take a closer look of certain places or monuments, delicacies like for example the most refined gothic 13C royal Chapel « La Sainte-Chapelle » with its exquisite stained glass windows on the city island. Or you can visit the Invalids dome, where Napoléon is buried in his marble sarcophagus. You can go up to the top level of the 1050 feet Eiffel tower or up to the 690 feet Montparnasse tower from where you have a fantastic view over Paris. A walk in the marvellous Luxembourg gardens would not be bad and then a tasty lunch in one of the very best restaurants of Paris. 8 hours is not that long, I could show you Paris during 3 or 4 days and you would not be bored for a minute.
